Gambling law & country context

Separate the operator, product and jurisdiction

South Africa

The National Gambling Board states that interactive online gambling is prohibited, while licensed online betting is treated separately. A bookmaker licence and a foreign casino licence must not be treated as interchangeable permissions. Product presentation under a casino label also needs its own regulatory context.

Check the relevant regulator

The National Gambling Board provides national oversight and provincial licensing authorities maintain licence and enforcement information. Match the operating entity, domain, licence number and product to the relevant register. A company name or brand logo alone is insufficient.

Offshore directory disclosure

We have not verified whether offshore casino operators may lawfully serve residents of your selected country, including South Africa. Inclusion in this directory is informational. It does not confirm local availability, licensing, consumer protection or a right to register and deposit.

Other African countries

Africa has separate national gambling regimes. Availability in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana or another country does not establish authorisation in South Africa. Check the rules applicable to your residence and physical location. Operator registration restrictions may be stricter than a general market description.
